Landslag I
Musescore score with tabs
The Score (and tabs) to go along with the diagrams below is available
here
The musescore/tabs tuning is 12 string matched reciprocal, but
it's simple to translate it to different Free Hands style tunings
like 10 string classic

Some notes about the piece
- The piece is minimalistic and is in
9/8 (nine eighth notes per bar)
- Each bar has a triplet repeated three times,
played as an ascending argpeggio.
- The bass note of each triplet is played on the bass side,
the remaining two notes are played on the melody side.
- Piece works well as a practice / warmup piece.
- I have added chord symbols to the score. These can
be used as a guide for subtle accompaniment. The musescore uses a subdued
xylophone as an example.
A strategy ... works for me anyways :)
- Break the piece up into chunks (4 bars is what i do)
- Take a few minutes (or however long it takes) to learn
the bass line pedal note
sequence (only one pedal note per par) and be comfortable
with moving to each note in the sequence
- One bar at a time add in the melody part of the arpeggiation
two note shape and mentally associate it with the bass line note.
There's also usually a line running through the melody shapes that you
can visualize that links them together.
- Note:
You can playback/loop on any set of bars at the piece's
musescore web page
,
at whatever speed is comfortable as a learning aid.
